Volunteer-work, volunteering. Just look at the word and think for a moment about it. It’s honestly up to you. Anyhow, I’m trying to make a point here. Everyone always says how great volunteer-work is and how badly we need volunteers. I must say that I can’t disagree with them, especially since I’m about to become a volunteer myself. Let’s face it, they say that it’s a great thing but no-one ever becomes a volunteer themselves.
Anyhow, I should go back on topic. I’ve been thinking about doing volunteer-work myself for quite some time and I’m actually going to do it. A few hours ago I went to a retirement-home at which they needed a receptionist. I got a nice conversation there, explain my enthusiasm ( Learning, giving something to society etc. ) and got some more information from them and I’ll probably start there in 2-3 weeks. I must say that I feel really good that this is coming along. I’ve been thinking about starting volunteer-work for a long time now and this step really feels good and safe. Continue reading
